Tour of the Pays de Gex vineyards

The canton of Geneva is the third largest wine-growing canton in Switzerland. It extends over more than 1400 hectares and some 150 winegrowers work it on three terroirs

The Lake Geneva region is located in a cool climate and well suited to the production of white grape varieties such as Chasselas, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. These wines tend to have fresh citrus flavors and crisp acidity. Red wine is also produced in the region, with pinot noir and gamay being the most common grape varieties.

A great way to experience local wines for yourself is to visit one of the many small, family-owned and independent wineries in the surrounding countryside at any time. Call ahead for an appointment. Here are some of the wineries we know and love:

Cave de Genève in Satigny (one of the largest wine estates in the canton of Geneva)

Domaine du Paradis in Satigny

Clos de Gondettes in Satigny

Domaine des Trois Étoiles in Satigny

Château du Crest in Jussy
